MULTAN, Feb 12: Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court Multan bench summoned the Rajanpur DPO and the staff of Shahwali Police Station after a villager complained that police had implicated him in a theft case after stealing 26 of his buffaloes.

Petitioner Shah Murad of Rojhan, district Rajanpur, submitted in his petition that Shahwali ASI Muhammad Ibrahim and other policemen had raided his place for the arrest of his nephew in connection with a murder case. The police took away his jeep and 26 buffaloes after failing to find his nephew, he alleged.

Later, he submitted, his buffaloes were reported missing and the police falsely held him responsible for the theft. Shahwali SHO Muhammad Jameel, who appeared before the court on Wednesday, said that he would either solve the case of buffaloes' theft or arrange payment of the price of buffaloes to the petitioner within a week.

The court summoned the Rajanpur DPO for an explanation regarding the conduct of his subordinates on Feb 18. The judge directed that entire staff of the Shahwali police station should also appear in the court on the said date. -APP
