RAJANPUR, Feb 8: Two Rangers personnel guarding the main gas pipeline originating from Sui were injured critically when their vehicle hit a landmine allegedly planted by tribesmen near Shahwali on Sunday.

The vehicle was badly damaged. Reports reaching here said the Rangers were patrolling the Kot Khewali area when the landmine went off. Sources said the saboteurs had planted the device on the patrol route.

The injured personnel, whose names could not be identified, were rushed to a nearby hospital. On being informed, a heavy contingent of police from Rajanpur rushed to the area. They were later joined by the Rajanpur DCO and Border Military Police commandant. In a similar incident last month, a personnel was killed and two injured.
