HYDERABAD, Oct 26: The provincial president of the Awami National Party Qamoos Gul Khattak, who presided over the provincial executive committee meeting here on Friday, presented several resolutions which were unanimously adopted.

The meeting expressed grave concern over the price-hike, massive unemployment and growing lawlessness and demanded that general elections should be held under the 1973 constitution without delay and democracy should be restored.

In another resolution, the meeting urged the government to put an end to downsizing, privatization, industrial lock-outs and increase the wages of the workers commensurate with the price-hike, stop the appointment of costly advisers and restore trade unions in PIA and other organisations.

The meeting stressed the need for unity and peace in the country in view of the prevailing situation and endorsed the policy declaration by the ANP Rehbar Khan Abdul Wali Khan and the party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan. The meeting demanded that a Loya Jirga should be convened in Afghanistan without any interference from outside and a broad based government should be appointed for the restoration of peace.

The meeting expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in Afghanistan but it was of the considered opinion that the war for the independence of Palestine and the ouster of American forces from Saudi Arabia should not be fought on the soil of Afghanistan just for the sake of one person.

In another resolution the meeting expressed grave concern over the loot and plunder and highway dacoities in Sindh and called upon the provincial government to take notice of highway robberies.

The meeting also condemned the frequent increases in the power and railway tariffs.
