LONDON, Feb 1: Prime Minister Tony Blair greeting Eid to the Muslims in the United Kingdom has said that they have played a great role in the success and prosperity of Britain.

Mr Blair said: "British Muslims have contributed hugely to this country's success, prosperity and culture. This is something we can all celebrate. With best wishes at this special time. Eid Mubarak."

Muslims in the UK celebrated Eid on Sunday. "The celebration of Eid gives us an opportunity to reflect on the positive impact that Islam has had in Britain and the rest of the world," he said and added: "Islamic art, science and philosophy have enriched our lives over centuries. I am pleased to send my very best wishes to the British Muslim community as you celebrate Eidul Azha and the Haj."-APP
