HYDERABAD, Oct 26: The Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) has termed American air strikes against Afghanistan as a barbaric action and said that on different pretexts America had committed terrorism against many countries.

These views were expressed by the party at a meeting held at the central secretariat on Friday.

The meeting urged all the communists, progressive, and leftist forces of the world to perform their due role under the prevailing situation.

It said that the US was shedding the blood of innocent people in Afghanistan to further its economic interests as it wanted to take over the control of oil and gas resources of Central Asian countries and the markets of the subcontinent.

The meeting condemned the terrorism perpetrated on Sept 11 but it said that bombardment over Afghanistan and military action should also be condemned. The CPP feared that the attempts by the US to appoint a puppet government in Afghanistan and the Russian strategy to protect its own interests in the region could divide Afghanistan into two parts. It feared that the war could further develop into a war between the US, Russia and China.

It wanted Russia and China to agitate the issue on the floor of the Security Council and find an amicable solution to the problem. The meeting condemned the presence of American forces in Pakistan and demanded their immediate withdrawal.

It also demanded the removal of Gen Pervez Musharraf’s government as it had “jeopardized the security of the nation and the country”.

It further demanded that the interference into the internal affairs of Afghanistan by the so-called Jihadi groups and other military forces should be stopped forthwith.

The meeting was of the opinion that this would enable the people of Afghanistan to convene a Loya Jirga and find out a just and permanent solution to the existing problems.

SPIF: About two dozen activists of the Sindh Pakhtoon Ittehad Federation (SPIF) held a protest demonstration against America’s terrorism in Afghanistan.

Addressing the rally, the chairman of the Federation, Hazar Khan Pathan said that America was a terrorist state, and added that the secret agency of Israel was involved in the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.
