Farhan sets final date with Khalid

KARACHI, Jan 28: Top seed Khalid Atlas and unseeded Farhan Mehboob qualified for the final of Under-19 in Dewan EFU Sindh Junior Open Squash on Wednesday at PN Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.

Khalid took 65 minutes to overcome Basit Ashfaq in the semifinal in a gruelling five-game encounter. Khalid started well and claimed the first two games 9-3, 9-0.

Basit bounced back with vengeance to clinch the next two games 9-2, 9-3 to take the match into the fifth and decisive game. The final game saw some exciting shots by both the players but it was the top seed who emerged winner closing the game and match 10-8.

In the other semifinal Farhan was never troubled by his opponent to win in straight games 10-8, 9-1, 9-2. In the girls Under-19 Muqaddas Ashraf easily trounced Ayesha Khalid in just 17 minutes. Muqaddas won 9-0, 9-1, 9-0. The other semifinal also sawsimilar results as Misbah Rani took merely 10 minutes in overwhelming Mubashira Zia 9-1, 9-0, 9-0.

Girls Under-19

Muqaddas Ashraf bt Ayesha Khalid 9-0, 9-1, 9-0; Misbah Rani bt Mubashira Zia 9-1, 9-0, 9-0.

Under-17

Maria Toor bt Gul Zaman Khan 9-2, 9-2, 9-4; Alia Sarfraz bt Zeba Pervez 9-1,9-1,9-2.

Under-15

Amina Mehboob bt Misbah Shaukat 9-0, 9-0, 9-1; Zoya Khalid bt Beenish Khan 9-4, 9-0, 9-4.

Under-13

Roshna Mehboob bt Sana Shahid 9-2, 9-1, 9-1; Roffat Khan bt Ana Batool Kardar 9-6, 9-6, 10-9.

The finals will be held on Thursday from 3 pm.-PPI
