ISLAMABAD, Jan 28: The Almi Majlis-i-Tehrik-i-Khatm-i-Nabuwat, Islamabad chapter, has decided to file a writ petition in the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench on Thursday against the removal of affidavit on Khatm-i-Nabuwat from the electoral rolls and forms for the contesting candidates , sources told Dawn.

Chapter secretary-general Maulana Abdul Waheed Qasimi will be the complainant while lawyer Dr Babar Awan will represent him in the court. The petitioner will request the court to ask the chief election commissioner to immediately restore the affidavit and stop the distribution of the forms printed without it.

Meanwhile, the Muttahida Majli-i-Amal has decided to launch a movement against the Election Commission if it failed to include the affidavit in the rolls and forms.

Earlier, MMA's deputy parliamentary leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed before leaving for Haj held a brief meeting on Tuesday with Chief Election Commissioner Irshad Hasan Khan and demanded restoration of the affidavit. The CEC assured the MMA leader that he would send a fresh summary to the president, seeking his approval to restore the affidavit condition.
