KABUL, Jan 27: A Canadian soldier and an Afghan pedestrian were killed and many other people wounded in a suicide bombing in the southern outskirts of Kabul on Tuesday, officials said.
Witnesses said the suicide bomber with explosives strapped to his chest threw himself in front of two Nato-led peacekeepers' vehicles on the Darul Aman Road, causing a large explosion. The vehicles caught fire.
They said the bomber hit one of the Canadian vehicles when it was negotiating a speed bump. "Suddenly, there was a big explosion and I saw people running for safety," Sayed Ajmal told this correspondent.
Troops from the International Security Assistance Force rushed to the site of bombing and cordoned off the area. Ajmal said nine of the injured were local pedestrians.
