KARACHI, Jan 26: Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that he will visit one district of the province in a week to have an appraisal about the problems of people and for direct inter- action with them.

The governor said that he would especially focus on law and order situation in the interior of Sindh, irrigation, agriculture, sewerage, water supply, besides, facilities of health and education.

He was talking to a delegation of the Small Automobile Spare-parts Importers and Dealers Association at the Governor House here on Monday. Mr Ibad pointed out that the government alone could not provide relief to the masses without coming into direct contact with them. He said that the government officials must contact people to seek their trust.

In this regard, the governor said that he had directed the ministers, advisers and other elected representatives to maintain a regular and effective contact with the people. He said that the law and order could be made a model for other cities by reviving the confidence of people in the police.

Referring to the peaceful environment and lively activities during Ramazan and Eid-ul-Fitr in the city, he said that this became possible because of the police and community cooperation.

The delegation apprised the governor about traffic, parking and other problems. The governor assured the association's office-bearers that their suggestions for maintaining smooth traffic flow on M.A. Jinnah road would be given due consideration.

Mr Ibad said that he would speak to the concerned federal government departments regarding assessment difference in respect of imported goods at the Dry Ports and Karachi and get the same resolved.

He said the approach of federal and provincial authorities was unbiased and they want to solve the problems of people without any discrimination. Appreciating the governor's efforts for the welfare of people of Sindh, the delegation members said that the business community was satisfied with the present government's efforts. The businessmen had opportunities of carrying out their business with peace of mind, they added. -APP
