KARACHI, Jan 23: The Sindh government has initiated plans for boosting industrialization to generate employment opportunities. In this connection over 5000 acres of land have been acquired where development work is in progress in phases to lay the necessary infrastructure.

Highlighting details of the plans during a presentation to the provincial minister for industries and commerce, Muhammad Adil Siddiqui Sindh, Industrial Trading Estates managing director, Gul Muhammad Rind, said that already 1156 plots had been allotted in Site Super Highway in phase II, where development of infrastructure work was in progress.

He said that out of the 5000 acres of land reserved for industrial estate in the in Nooriabad, 3342 acres were already transferred to Site for which a large number of applications were received for allotment of industrial plots.

Besides, Mr Rind said, development works in Site, Nooriabad, Kotri, Hyderabad and Nawabshah were also in progress including repair of roads, installation of filter plants and water supply. During the year 2003, Rs 219.778 million were spent on development work in the province", he added.

He said that future plans included improvement in sanitary conditions, effective sewer net-work to contain liquid wastes to the sewers and rehabilitation of the natural storm drainage. The minister expressed satisfaction over the progress.
