ISLAMABAD, Jan 21: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has approved an allocation of Rs10 million for development projects identified by each senator during the current financial year , Minister of State for Environment Tahir Iqbal told the Senate on Wednesday.

The minister said the amount had been allocated under the Tameer-i-Watan Programme. He said the funds could be spent only on the construction of roads, electrification and gas and water supply schemes. He asked the members to prepare their development plans in view the allocated amount to avoid any complications.

He said the members would be free to get their plans implemented through the federal or the provincial governments. He said the senators who wanted the implementation of their schemes through the provincial governments would have to comply with some conditions and incur certain charges.

He said the members would be informed about the rules and regulations regarding utilization of development funds.
