HYDERABAD, Jan 21: The secretary for food has removed the deputy food director, Hyderabad region, Zahid Hussain Memon, due to flour crisis and appointed Ahmadullah Baloch in his place.

Mr Baloch has taken over the charge of his office. Informed sources told this correspondent that food secretary Mir Mohammad Parhiyar also ordered a high-level enquiry into the supply of wheat in October, November and December last year to flour mills lying closed.

They said an inquiry had also been ordered as to why government godowns were opened during Eidul Fitr holidays. The assistant food controller of Hala was also suspended for his alleged malpractice a couple of days back.

Two weeks back, district food controllers of Hyderabad and Dadu were suspended for their alleged mismanagement in the distribution of wheat to the mills.

SLA: The Sindhi Language Authority has published a book "Sindh ja Mewa" (fruits of Sindh), by Haji Islamuddin Majidani and Amir Hussain. A spokesman for the SLA said the book provided details about fruits of Sindh, including varieties of fruit and ways and means to increase fruit production.

NAZIM: District Nazim Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has said the students of today would be the leaders of tomorrow. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of "Open Day and Educational Funfair" at the Public School on Monday. He inaugurated the school website and chemistry laboratory.
