HYDERABAD, Jan 21: The Hyderabad Development Authority director general has said that fund for the Sindh governor package for development works will be released by the end of the current month.

The HDA official, Ali Ahmad Lund, said this during his visit to Latifabad-11 where he inspected ongoing development works. Latifabad Taluka Nazim Abdul Jabbar Khan, Water and Sanitation Agency managing director Tahir Ahmad and Latifabad Union Council-7 Nazim Mohammad Ibrahim Chishti were also present on the occasion.

Mr Lund was briefed about water supply and sewerage problems. The taluka Nazim and Mr Lund gave an assurance that the problems would soon be resolved.Expressing satisfaction over the quality of ongoing works of various schemes, Mr Lund issued instructions that all schemes should be completed on time.

PRICE HIKE DECRIED: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed concern over the increase in POL prices. In a joint statement issued here on Tuesday, HCCI president Emad Siddiqui and senior vice-president Najamuddin Qureshi said the increase in prices of POL would have an adverse effect on industrial and agricultural production and commercial activities. They demanded that the prices should be reduced immediately.

EYE CAMP: A total of 48 children were operated upon for squint eyes and 47 for cataract at a free eye camp held at the I. Y. Lashkarwala Eye Hospital, Hirabad, here on Tuesday.

The camp was organized by the Hyderabad Lions Club. According to the camp chief organizer, 250 patients were examined and given free medicines and spectacles. Patients from Badin, Tando Mohammad Khan, Kotri, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Digri and Hyderabad turned up at the camp.

LOANS: The Bolan Bank is advancing loans for purchase of tractors and other agricultural equipment. Talking to clients here on Tuesday, bank president Azizullah Memon said the bank was also advancing loans to businessmen to encourage economic activities.

He said the bank would soon establish more branches Bank in Hyderabad, Nawabshah and Larkana, adding that the competent authority had approved the establishment of 10 branches and issued a license in this regard.
