LAHORE, Jan 20: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said those using metal wire for kite flying, resorting to firing and indulging in indecent immoral acts on Basant will not be spared.
Speaking at a meeting of the district Nazim and town Nazims here on Tuesday, the chief minister said a strict action would be taken against all those found violating the restrictions on Basant no matter how influential they were.
He said the government had formulated a comprehensive strategy for the uplift of rundown areas of the city on a priority basis. Work on a number of underpasses, overhead bridges and infrastructure development projects was already under way.
He said the government had launched the sasta atta scheme for providing a relief to the poor, and was taking steps for ensuring transparency in the distribution of Zakat and Baitul Maal funds. He directed the Nazims to use their energies for a solution to the problems being faced by the people and ensure that only the deserving people benefited from the subsidized flour scheme.
He said the government was paying special attention to the organizational matters of the Pakistan Muslim League for ensuring maximum participation of the people in the democratic process. He stressed the need for continuation of the mass contact campaign for strengthening the party.
The meeting was attended by District Nazim Mian Amer, Nishtar Town Nazim Mohammad Rafiq Hasrat, Ravi Town Nazim Amer Munir, Aziz Bhatti Town Nazim Chaudhry Mohammad Ashraf, Shalimar Town Nazim Ashiq Dayal, Agriculture Minister Arshad Khan Lodhi, Tourism Minister Aslam Iqbal, Information Technology Minister Abdul Aleem Khan and chief minister's advisers Chaudhry Mohammad Siddiq and Akhtar Rasool.
