QUETTA, Jan 18: Two persons from the local bomb disposal squad were injured while they were trying to defuse two bombs in Ghousabad late on Sunday night.

Among them were the Director of the Bomb Disposal Squad Akbar who received burn injuries while he was defusing a bomb left behind by unknown persons. Another officer of the squad, Imtiaz Ali, was injured when the detonator of another bomb recovered from Sariab police station exploded. Both officers were admitted in civil hospital for treatment.

A bomb disposal squad on Sunday foiled an attempt to blow up a truck in front of the Sariab police station by defusing a powerful device fixed under the vehicle.

According to police, unknown miscreants had planted a one-and-a-halfkg bomb under a truck parked at the main road near the police station. The police had impounded the truck a few days ago.

Sources said the police constable guarding the police station saw some suspected device under the truck and informed his officers. They immediately informed a bomb disposal squad about the situation.
