ISLAMABAD, Jan 18: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf's address at the joint session of the two houses of parliament is a comprehensive roadmap for the future challenges in the political, economic and diplomatic fields.

He was talking to Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, who had called on him at the Prime Minister's House on Sunday. The prime minister said that all segments of the society have warmly welcomed president's address to parliament, which marked yet another milestone in the country's smooth transition towards democracy.

Mr Jamali and the information minister, criticizing the opposition member's behaviour, said their attitude was not in conformity with the democratic norms and principles.

The information minister also welcomed prime minis-ter's assurance to uphold freedom of expression in the country and said that it reflected his commitment to democratic ideals.

The minister said that his ministry would continue to make efforts for further development of the print and electronic media.-APP
