KARACHI, Jan 15: Sewage overflow in front of the Jamia Cloth Market on M. A. Jinnah road and near the shrine of Baba Hakim Shah Bokhari is posing problems to pedestrians, shopkeepers and area residents.
Nearby is the entrance to the Civil Hospital and patients and their visitors are also exposed to health hazard. The sewage is overflowing from a number of manholes for the last few weeks, but the authorities have failed to take remedial measures, area shopkeepers said.
The worst hit are faithful who visit the nearby mosque for offering prayers. Similarly, streets in Bohrapir area are presenting an ugly scene owing to improper cleaning of streets, and because of sewage overflow from a number of gutters in the locality.
The shopkeepers and area people have urged the governor to come to their rescue as the officials concerned were paying no heed to their grievances, especially relating to cleanliness.
