LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Jan 15: Computer systems in a number of schools and computer centres in Landi Kotal have been damaged due to power fluctuation and unscheduled loadshedding, it was learnt on Wednesday.
The students of about 15 schools had lodged a complaint with the political authorities that the prolonged loadshedding and unscheduled power outages badly affected their studies as the computer systems in these schools had been rendered dysfunctional due to the problem.
More than 500 students study in various computer courses in 15 schools in Landi Kotal. They also include students of government high schools and Government Degree College, Landi Kotal.
Karimullah, a student at a local computer school, said that loadshedding wasted their precious time and badly affected their studies. "We have to wait for hours for electricity restoration. Once it is restored, it is disrupted again in half an hour".
Arif Khan Shinwari, another student, complained that he had to start his computer courses afresh and pay extra fee as he could not complete the courses in time due to loadshedding.
Barialay, a computer instructor, said that a good number of students had stopped attending their classes because of the loadshedding problem. He appealed to the Wapda authorities to look into the problem and help save time and money of the students.
"Wapda should announce proper timing for loadshedding in the localities," he said, adding that a number of computer systems had been damaged due to low voltage and power fluctuation.
