Appointment resented

ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: The first appointment in the Supreme Court after the induction of the new chief justice has created resentment among the officials and the aggrieved officers are preparing a representation for the reversal of the decision, sources said.

Chief Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui has appointed Ghulam Ghous as the deputy registrar, judicial, in grade 19. The officer, who was serving on deputation in the Auqaf department, was a private secretary in the Supreme Court in grade 17 a few years ago. He left the Supreme Court when he was appointed secretary to federal ombudsman Saleem Akthar in grade 19.

Officials in the Supreme Court argue that all his colleagues were still in the same grade, while he had come back in grade 19, which was not possible under the rules.
