KHAIRPUR: SALU registrar replaced

KHAIRPUR, Jan 11: Shah Abdul Latif University vice-chancellor on Saturday removed Abdullah Phulpoto from the post of registrar of the university. He appointed Professor Ahmad Hussain Shah, chairman of the international relations department, as the new registrar. The action against Mr Phulpoto was taken following a complaint, submitted by two officers of the university.

ARTISTES: About 500 artistes of the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Khairpur, are facing hardships as The PBC administration has issued them cross cheques but many of them do not have bank accounts.

Meanwhile, a large number of folk singers of the PBC, Khairpur, held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday. Led by Faqir Bukhsh Ali Mahesar, they complained that they were only given one or two programmes in a year.

They said they also could not afford Rs1,000, required for maintaining a bank account. The protesters demanded that the open cheque system should be restored.

ROBBERY: Irshad Panhwar, Karim Bux Narejo, Riaz Abro and Rauf Chandio were deprived of their two motorcycles by armed men near Ahmadpur, Kingri taluka.
