ISLAMABAD, Jan 9: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) courts gave the verdict of 12,375 cases last year while 14,563 cases are still pending with these courts.
According to a source, the district and sessions judge, Chaudhry Asad Raza, gave the verdict of 40 murder cases, 17 Hudood cases, 58 drug cases and 320 civil and criminal appeals.
Meanwhile, the police registered eight habeas corpus, 13 police harassment and 32 other cases on the order of same court. The additional sessions judge, Chaudhry Habibur Rehman, gave verdict of 13 murder, 15 Hudood, 52 drugs and 375 civil and criminal cases.
The same court ordered for the registration of four habeas corpus and six other cases. Likewise, the additional sessions judge, Tariq Abbassi, gave the verdict of 31 murder, 23 Hudood, 67 drug cases and 310 civil and criminal cases.
About 29 cases, including five habeas corpus cases, were registered on the order of this court. The district and sessions judge ordered for the immediately handling of ten years old cases and about 1,335 old cases were decided.
About 18219 cases were registered overall in the year 2003 out of which the civil courts decided 10575 cases. At least 14,563 cases are still pending with the ICT courts and report has been sent to the Lahore High Court.-APP
