LAHORE, Jan 9: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood on Friday handed over 2,500 Chief Minister's Sasta Atta Scheme coupons to the Nazims of five union councils for distribution among the poor families selected for supplying flour on subsidised rates.

As many as 75,000 coupons are to be provided to the Nazims of 150 union councils in the city district for distribution among 500 families in every union council during the next few days. Every family will get two 20kg flour bags every month against the coupons. At least 126,000 flour bags will be sold in the provincial metropolis every month at special sale points at rates Rs30 below the market price.

WASA: The Water and Sanitation Agency has decided to announce an amnesty scheme for 3000 business establishments stealing water from its system through unauthorized connections.

The agency has decided to ask such establishments to get their connections regularized by Jan 22 on payment of normal charges. Those availing the offer will not be asked to pay any penalty or bill for water used the past.

BOOKED: The District Officer, Public Facilities, Dr Tufail Siddiqi, on Friday lodged an FIR against the Darul Hajjaj Parking Stand contractor at the Naulakha police station for overcharging.

The DO visited the parking stand on receipt of complaints against the parking stand contractor and found his employees charging Rs5 for parking of motorcycles and Rs10 for cars. He recommended cancellation of the parking stand contract after lodging an FIR with the police.
