MIRPURKHAS, Jan 7: Successful negotiations were held between representatives of sugarcane growers and the management of the Tharparkar Sugar Mills here on Wednesday.

After the talks, three guards of the mill, who had beaten up protesting growers on Tuesday, were suspended. Further action would also be taken against them in two days, the mill also agreed.

The mill management agreed to pay dues of 2002 and 2003 to growers by Jan 31 while difference of Rs3 per 40 kilogramme of sugarcane would be paid by Feb 20.POWER BREAKDOWN: Frequent power breakdowns for several hours have been creating difficulties for people for the last three days.

The power breakdowns also led to suspension of water supply. It also affected the sewerage and sewage accumulated on the main roads and streets. The area people warned that they would launch a protest campaign against Hesco if it did not ensure regular power supply.
