Kumble undergoes jaw surgery

BANGALORE (India), May 16: India leg-spinner Anil Kumble underwent surgery Thursday to mend the jaw he fractured in last week’s fourth Test against West Indies.

“The operation went well and he is recovering,” Sanjiv Nair, one of the two doctors who carried out the operation, said.

“He just wants to recuperate, that’s all,” Nair said. “Maybe in five or six days he should be back in the nets.”

Kumble’s wife Chetana told Reuters that the spinner was doing “very well”, though he was still in some pain.
