HYDERABAD, Jan 6: People's Party Parliamentarians MPA from Thatta Sassui Palijo has said her party is fighting for the rights of the people. She was talking to party activists at the residence of Mohammad Usman Kennedy, PPP's Sindh Council member, here on Monday night.

The meeting was held to mark the 76th birth anniversary of the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The MPA regretted that President Gen Pervez Musharraf had expelled what she called real leaders of the people from the country.

Ms Palijo said the PPP would not accept the Legal Framework Order and it would continue its struggle for the restoration of the 1973 Constitution and real democracy in the country.

She deplored lawlessness in Sindh and said false cases were being registered against PPP activists in the Thatta district. She said the rulers had endangered the very existence of the country.

Mr Kennedy lashed out at the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal for striking a deal with the government on the LFO. MPA Zahid Bhurgari, Mohammad Amin Lakho and Mohammad Hanif Khan also spoke on the occasion.

SU CLASSES: A Sindh University committee, at a meeting held at the Jamshoro campus on Tuesday, discussed arrangements for holding classes of new session scheduled to commence from Jan 15.

AWARD: The Pakistan Academy of Sciences has awarded gold medal with a prize of Rs15,000 to Dr Imdad Ismaili, Professor of Institute of Information Technology, University of Sindh, at a ceremony recently held in Islamabad.-Bureau
