PESHAWAR: NWFP to check IT places

PESHAWAR, Jan 6: The NWFP Minister for Science and Information Technology, Hussain Ahmed Kanju has said that the government has planned to establish a regulatory authority to regulate the working of public and private sector IT institutions in the province.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, he said that the authority will regulate the IT syllabus, standards and fee structure of these institutions.

The minister said that the establishment of a joint science and information technology (SIT) board or separate boards one each for SIT and IT was also under consideration.

He said initially district citizen information centres were being set up at each district, that will be converted into science and information technology offices later, which will provide employment opportunities to jobless youths.
