LONDON, Aug 30: England called up uncapped all-rounder Ian Blackwell for their ICC Champions Trophy squad Friday as a replacement for the injured Andrew Flintoff.

The big-hitting Somerset player will fly out to Colombo with the squad on Sept 12.

The 24-year-old got his chance after scoring over 800 first-class runs at an average of 39.38 during the English season while taking 20 wickets with his left-arm spin at an average of 37.45. He has particularly impressed, however, in limited-overs games.

Blackwell is the second England player to be called up as a replacement for the tournament after James Kirtley was drafted in to replace the injured Darren Gough earlier this month.

Squad: Nasser Hussain (captain), Ian Blackwell, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Caddick, Ashley Giles, Matthew Hoggard, Ronnie Irani, James Kirtley, Nick Knight, Jeremy Snape, Alec Stewart, Marcus Trescothick, Michael Vaughan, Craig White.—Reuters
