MUNICH (Germany), Aug 30: German veteran Bernard Langer fired an eight-under-par 64 to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the 1.8-million-dollar Munich Open Thursday.

The 45-year-old Langer, who is bidding for his first tournament win here, leads the board ahead of English trio Ian Poulter, Robert Coles and Richard Bland who sit joint second on 65.

South African Trevor Immelmann sits fifth on 66.

American John Daly, who took the honours here last year, had a shaky start and could only manage a two-under-par round of 70 to leave him in 48th place overall.

The first round was postponed for around an hour in the afternoon due to storm warnings.
