GUJRANWALA, Aug 30: The PML(N) parliamentary board left the provincial assembly seat PP-93 on the discretion of former MPA S. A. Hameed while the case of PP-91 was forwarded to party chief Shahbaz Sharif for final decision, it is learnt here on Thursday.

According to a report, the former MPA filed his nomination papers for the National Assembly seat NA-96 against the ticket holder engineer Khurram Dastgir, the son of former minister Ghulam Dastgir Khan besides provincial constituency PP-93. He also filed the nomination papers of his son Raza Hameed from the same constituency. However, it is not clear whether he would contest election himself or give a chance to his son from this constituency.

In PP-91, Imran Khalid and Tariq have filed their nomination papers and both are enjoying the party support. The decision that who will contest the election in this constituency will be taken by Shahbaz Sharif.

It is learnt that the former has the backing of Usman Ibrahim while latter of Dastgir Khan.

NO SALARY: The staff of 10 elementary schools of Kamoki expressed their resentment against education department and tehsil council for their failure to pay their salaries for the month of July.

Participants in a meeting said on Thursday since the municipal schools had been handed over to the education department by the Punjab government, the department refused to pay them salaries on the plea that no notification in this regard has yet been received.

The teachers said the tehsil council also refused to pay them their salaries saying that the schools have been handed over to the education department with effect from July 1, and it was the responsibility of the department to pay them salaries.

They regretted that both the government and the education department functionaries were adding to their miseries by delaying payment of salaries.
