HARIPUR, Aug, 30: The local police which had forcibly occupied the building of Basic Health Unit of village, Shah Mohammad, had here vacated it on Friday.

According to official sources the police force of station Saddar, which was in search of a suitable state owned building for relocating the station from its old place, had forcibly occupied the offices of medical officer in the main building of BHU Shah Mohammad some time back.

The police force, the officials said, led by an ASP entered the building and unlocked the required three offices and after clearing the office settings belonging to health department put all the luggage they brought with them and locked them again.

After two days the police station Saddar was formally shifted to the new building of BHU.

The staff of BHU apprised its high-ups of the episode and the DHO sent complaints to the IG NWFP, Director Health and other high ups.

During this the BHU staff particularly female, was sent to some other place near Swat Mills Chowk, thus suspending health facility to the people of Shah Mohammad and adjoining villages.

The BHU staff, according to OPD record, attended over 200 out patients daily who suffered a lot during the last two weeks time reportedly.

It is worth noting the main building also housed the offices of union Nazim Shah Mohammad who had earlier occupied the two rooms in the same fashion.

However on the intervention of district government and provincial health department the police had started vacating the building from Friday and expected to hand over it to the department within a couple of days.

When MS Haripur hospital was contacted he confirmed the report of vacating the building by the police.

He informed that the department was contemplating to shift TB centre to the Basic Health Unit Shah Mohammad in near future as the old building of hospital became congested.
