BEIJING, Aug 30: A week-long Pakistani film festival began in Beijing on Friday to strengthen the social and cultural linkages between the two countries.

It was formally inaugurated by the Pakistan Ambassador to China Riaz Mohammad Khan. Three Pakistani films Nikkah, Rukhsati and Ghonghat were shown on the opening day.

The festival is part of the 50th anniversary of Sino-Pakistan diplomatic relations.

The Pakistani delegation that specially flew in here to project the films included film star Zara Sheikh, producer Shahzad Rafiq and the Managing Director, Nefdec, Prince Abbas Khan.

The films, which were screened with sub-titles in the Chinese language, received a big applause.

After three days in Beijing, the festival will be held in another Chinese city, Guangzhou (Canton). The event has been arranged after 15 years by the Chinese Film Bureau with the cooperation of Pakistan embassy.—APP
