GUJRAT, Feb 21: Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar has said that drones have been allowed to land in Pakistan only for “logistical reasons”.

Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, he, however, said that drone attacks were being carried out from Afghanistan.

In reply to a question, the minister said that there was no extradition treaty between India and Pakistan and that Islamabad had made no request for the extradition of Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving man suspected of involvement in the Mumbai attacks

Kasab had committed crimes in India and, therefore, India had a right to conduct his trial in accordance with its law, he said.

“We can try only those suspects in the Mumbai attacks who are in Pakistan.”

Mr Mukhtar said Pakistan was considering an option of sending its investigators to India to probe into the attacks.

In reply to another question, he said the provincial government would abide by the Nizam-i-Adl regulation once it became effective in the Malakand division.
