ISLAMABAD, Feb 19: A meeting held at the President House here on Thursday reviewed development projects and law and order situation in Balochistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani presided over the meeting which was attended by Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Information Minister Sherry Rehman, Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik, Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Khan Magsi and Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Khan Raisani.
The meeting agreed that the government should take all possible measures for durable peace in the province and that all sections and people concerned should act together for its development.
The chief minister briefed the meeting on development activities and efforts to rehabilitate people affected by the recent earthquake.
He said his government was working for empowering the downtrodden and the destitute and alleviating poverty.
Adviser Rehman Malik apprised the meeting of the law and order situation and measures being taken by law-enforcement agencies to maintain peace in the province.
He said that efforts were being made to recover UN official John Solecki who was kidnapped in Quetta on Feb 2.
It was a follow-up of consultative meetings the president has held with parliamentarians and members of the provincial government.
