Custodian of Golra shrine dies

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13: Renowned religious scholar and custodian of Golra Sharif shrine, Allama Syed Pir Naseeruddin Naseer Gilani, died of heart failure here on Friday.

Pir Naseeruddin Shah was preparing for Friday prayers when he felt severe cardiac pain. He was shifted to the hospital but he could not recover and died.

He had authored 36 books on Islam, Quran and Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). Mysticism was his field of specialisation. He also did research in history and religion. The news of Pir Naseeruddin Shah’s death shocked his followers.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed their sorrow over the death of Pir Naseeruddin Shah.

Others who grieved the death of the Golra Sharif shrine’s custodian included religious scholar Pir Naqibur Rehman, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan, PTV Managing Director Arshad Khan and his deputy Shahid Mehmood Nadeem. — APP
