COLOMBO, Jan 31: The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has appointed Selvaraja Pathmanathan as the head of its newly-created department of international relations. He succeeds the late Anton Balasingham who, living in London, represented the LTTE in its international relations from the very beginning of the militant movement till his death.

According to B. Nadesan, the head of the LTTE’s political wing, Pathmanathan is living abroad and has already got on touch with international actors. Armed with the authority of the LTTE’s top leadership, Pathmanathan would interact with the international community in any future peace process, Nadesan said. He described Pathmanathan as a “senior member” of the LTTE.
