SHIKARPUR: Passengers of coach looted

SHIKARPUR, Jan 26: Highwaymen robbed passengers of a coach of cash, mobile phones and other valuables on Sunday.

Seven people boarded the Quetta-bound coach coming from Larkana at Ratedero and after overpowering the driver and passengers, deprived them of their valuables on gunpoint.

Robbers got the coach stopped near Achhi Masjid on Garhi Yasin-Shikarpur road in the jurisdiction of New Foujdari police station Shikarpur and fled while firing in the air.

Later, passengers blocked the road and staged a demonstration in protest against the incident.

The road was reopened for vehicular traffic after two hours on police assurance to recover the looted property and arresting of the culprits.

ESCAPE: Two accused escaped from the Lakhi police lockup on Sunday night.

According to reports Lutfullah Mahar and Malook Mirani were involved in road robberies and firing on a wagon which took the life of woman Fatima Odho.

DPO Shikarpur Khadim Hussain Rind suspended the SHO Lakhi Abdul Wahid Buriro and the HWC Muhammad Suleman Lashari. Lashari was sent to the lockup.

Further investigation was in progress.
