GHALANAI, Jan 24: The security forces destroyed and torched over a dozen shops at Lakaro bazaar owned by suspected militants, while five paramilitary soldiers suffered injuries in a road mishap near Darwazgai area of Mohmand Agency on Saturday.

The security forces backed by gunship helicopters and tanks after consolidating its position at tehsil Lakaro started razing and torching shops belonging to suspected militants on Friday night.

Hundreds of houses of militants have been destroyed in Mullahkhel, Sandukhel, Qandaharo, Kareer, Ghari, Habibzai and Qayyumabad areas of tehsil lakkaro during search and clean operation in the restive Mohmand region so far.

Meanwhile, a security forces vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine near Darwazgai area of tehsil Lakaro injuring five security personnel. The vehicle was on routine petrol in the area.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General Frontier Corps, Maj Gen Mohammad Tariq Khan, visited Mohmand region to inspect the ongoing operation launched to flush out militants from the volatile region.

He also had an aerial view of different troubled areas where security forces are fighting with militants. Maj Gen Tariq was also given a detailed briefing at the Yusufkhel FC camp about the forces activities in the region.
