KARACHI, Jan 23: Sindh Minister for Law and Criminal Prosecution Mohammad Ayaz Soomro has said that recruitment of 71 civil judges will be made through the Sindh Public Service Commission soon in order to overcome the shortage of judges.
Talking to a delegation of lawyers who called on him at his office on Friday, the law minister said that 104 posts of deputy district attorneys had been lying vacant for many years. He said the previous governments had rendered people jobless and banned fresh recruitment.
He said the government would make the recruitment purely on a merit basis for provision of speedy justice to people. Following advertisements of vacant posts, interviews were being conducted for fresh recruitment of deputy district attorneys at district headquarters. A team consisting of senior judges has been formed to hold interviews.
The minister said that appointments of civil judges were being made through the public service commission in other provinces.—PPI
