KARAK, Jan 20: Speakers at a meeting held here on Tuesday reiterated their demand for increase in gas royalty from five per cent to 30 per cent to the district.
District Nazim Rahmat Salam Khattak chaired the consultative meeting held at the district secretariat hall, which was participated, among others, by former provincial ministers Fareed Tofan, Abdul Haleem Khattak, Malik Zafar Azam, Sher Nawaz Khattak and former MNA Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz and president of Khattak Ittehad Malik Hidaytullah
The speakers said that since the gas reserves had been found in Gurguri the district residents had the foremost right to get the enhanced royalty as well as gas connections.
They threatened if the facility was not provided to the locals they would block the main supply line of gas to Peshawar and D.I. Khan.
The participants appealed to the Khattak tribe to be united so as to push for their demands successfully.
Through a resolution, the consultative meeting demanded of the government that gas royalty of the district should be utilised for two years on the uplift of Banda Daud Shah tehsil.
