KARACHI, Jan 16: Minister for Ports and Shipping Nabil Gabol has issued directives to the National Highway Authority for the construction of the Lyari Expressway’s interchange at Lyari.
Mr Gabol also directed the chairperson of the Karachi Port Trust to immediately float tenders for the construction of an underpass at Lea Market.
He said that like other parts of the city, the government was taking special measures for Lyari’s development. He regretted that a fountain was constructed by the beach at a cost of millions of rupees only to appease one person with no benefit to the people of Karachi. “But now funds will be spent only on the schemes which will benefit people,” he remarked.
He said that the construction of the Lyari interchange and underpass would help ease traffic congestion in the area.—APP
