KARACHI: City receives light rain

KARACHI, Jan 14: Many areas of the city received light rain on Wednesday, which continued intermittently till late in the evening.

According to the chief meteorologist, Mohammad Riaz, a rain system from Southeast Iran entered the western part of the country causing initial rain spell mainly in coastal areas of Balochistan.

He said that by Thursday night the system would enter lower Punjab after raining in Sindh. Karachi and other parts of Sindh could receive light rain to thunderstorm till Thursday night, he added.

The Met Office recorded about one millimetre rain at its Airport observatory.

The minimum and maximum temperature on Wednesday is 15.5 degree Centigrade and 27 degree Celsius, respectively, with 25 per cent humidity. The Met office forecast a partly cloudy/cloudy weather with chances of thunderstorm for Thursday.
