Bogies of goods train derail

Published January 14, 2009

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 13: Two bogies of a Lahore-bound goods train derailed at a railway crossing near Padidan railway station on Tuesday as a result of which thousands of litres of furnace oil got spilled on the track and the road.

The goods train was coming from Karachi. As it passed from one railway track to another, due to some fault in the track changer, the train failed to change the track as a result its two bogies carrying furnace oil derailed.

Many motorcyclists passing through the road skidded. The road at railway crossing remained closed till the filing of this report and vehicular traffic from Padidan, Naushahro Feroze and Bhirya Road remained suspended.

The schedule of trains also got disturbed for about eight hours as Tezgam, Shah Rukn-i-Aalam, Fareed Express, Shalimar Express and other trains were stopped at different stations. A relief train from Sukkur reached the Padidan station after six hours of the incident and up and down tracks were subsequently restored.
