KARACHI, Jan 12: Army Public School, Beaconhouse Jubilee and St Patrick’s High School on Sunday reached the semi-finals of the Karachi United (KU) School Football Championship under way at the DHA Football Stadium.

The first quarter-final saw Army Public School beat Foundation Public school (FPS) 4-2. The match went into extra time after the teams drew 2-2 during regulation time.

Two 10-minute halves were played which eventually resulted in APS ‘s victory.

Striker Faraz Pervaiz scored three goals (21, 65 and 82 mins) to earn the event’s fourth hat-trick while midfielder Sarosh Akbar added another in the 87th minute. Striker Rehman Minhas (16th min) and midfielder Hamza Akhani (31st min) scored for Foundation.

In the second match, Beaconhouse Jubilee beat Lyceum High School 4-1 on penalty kicks when both regulation time (1-1) and extra time (2-2) failed to produce result.

For Beaconhouse, left-winger Taha Rehman scored in the 66th minute and midfielder Mustafa Ahmed in the 79th. Striker Daniyal Ijaz scored both the goals for Lyceum (44th and 66th mins).

In the day’s last quarter-final encounter, St Patrick’s High School beat Bayview High School 2-0. Striker Mohammad Younus scored both the goals (28th and 32nd mins).

The fourth quarter-final will be played between defending champions Karachi Grammar School and BVS Parsi School.
