PESHAWAR, Jan12: A priest, who was kidnapped from Peshawar Saddar two days ago, was released in mysterious condition here on Monday.

According to a spokesman for the Diocese of Peshawar, Priest Tanzeel Zafar was thrown by his abductors at the gate of St John’s Cathedral Church in cantonment area. The spokesman said it was not yet known as to who had kidnapped the priest, but he was deeply traumatised and severely beaten. Mr Zafar was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital and after giving emergency treatment he was taken to Mission Hospital.

The investigation officer of Cantt Police Station, Amir Hassan Khan, when contacted, told Dawn that investigation in the case was underway on different angles but he was not sure as to what was the purpose of the abduction of the priest.—Bureau Report
