KARACHI, Jan 11: Centuries from opener Khurram Manzoor and skipper Shoaib Malik guided PIA into an impregnable position on the penultimate day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship match against Habib Bank at the UBL Sports Complex here on Sunday.

Khurram slammed 21 fours and one six in scoring 151 — his ninth first-class hundred — and Malik an unbeaten 100 (12 fours and four sixes in his seventh first-class ton) as PIA, who had taken a slender lead of 29 runs on the first innings, declared their second innings at 355-5.Chasing a daunting target of 385, the bankers closed at 35-1.

SSGC obtained a lead of 186 over leaders National Bank who were bowled for 204 in their first innings at the NBP Sports Complex. Lanky paceman Sohail Khan captured five for 90.

Saeed bin Nasir continued his prolific form by striking an unbeaten 61 as SSGC reached 144-5 in their second innings to enjoy an overall advantage of 330 runs.

Our Sports Reporter adds from Lahore: Fine centuries by Raza Ali and Abid Ali helped Lahore Shalimar to earn a first-innings lead of 131 runs against Wapda.

Raza hit an excellent 183, while opener Abid struck 141

as Lahore Shalimar finished

Raza slammed 24 fours and five sixes while Abid struck 23 boundaries.

Opener Naeemuddin stroked 173 (17 fours, three sixes) and medium-pacer Nadeem Javed claimed five for 23 to put Sialkot in sight of victory against Hyderabad at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot.

After Sialkot declared their first innings at 540-9, which gave them a huge first-innings lead of 288 runs, Hyderabad found themselves reeling at 59-8 in the second innings.

Faisalabad, meanwhile, completed an innings and 167-run win over Quetta at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

The hosts, who posted 447-8 declared, bundled out Quetta for 173 in the first innings. The visitors folded up fir 107 in their second turn.
