SIALKOT, Jan 11: Syed Ali Najam Gillani was elected president of the Sialkot Bar Association by defeating two-time president Arshad Mehmood Baggu.

Faizullah Cheechi was elected as general secretary, Muhammad Irfan Bhatti joint secretary and Malik Ahmad Raza as finance secretary.

BAHAWALNAGAR: Khalid Javed Wattoo was re-elected president by defeating Rao Ejaz Ali Khan and district PPP president in a close fight. Zafar Iqbal was elected general secretary.

Kasur: A neck-on-neck fight is expected between the candidates of the PML-N and the Mian Nayar group for the slot of District Bar Association president the elections of which will be held on Monday (today).

Sardar Nabi Ahmed, backed by the PML-N, is the resident of Kot Radha Kishan. MNA Sheikh Waseem Ahmed, former DBA president Chaudhry Munir Ahmed, the sitting tehsil nazim and lawyers from the Jamaat-Islami camp are canvassing for him. Bilal G Chaudhry of the Mian Nayar group has the support of the Sardar Ashiq group, the Al-Meezan group, the Malik group and lawyers from the Unity group.
