FAISALABAD, Jan 11: A family identified on Sunday the bodies of three victims recovered some six days ago from a drain flowing few yards away from the Khanuana police post.Police have taken two accused into custody for interrogation without nominating them in any murder case.

About 500 people besieged the Saddar police station for nearly two hours against police failure for not arresting the ‘actual’ criminals.

The family says police ignored the facts of the case and only registered murder cases. The protesters severely criticised the police and threatened to set the police station on fire if police did not arrest the “actual” killers.

Seeing the furious mood of the protesters, the police locked the main gate of the station and called additional force to counter any untoward incident.

Khanuana police post found six bodies in the main drain. The body of a woman was discovered on Jan 2; the bodies of two men and a boy were recovered on Jan 5 and two bodies of two women on Jan 6.

Three murder cases were registered with the Saddar police station. Police said the family had identified three victims, Irshad Bibi, her son Imtiaz and niece Humaira, all from Chak 215-RB, Kakuana.

The body of Imtiaz Ahmed was recovered on Jan 5 and the bodies of Irshad Bibi and Humaira were recovered on Jan 6. Rustam Ali, of Chak 243-RB, informed the police about the incident.

Banaras Bibi, the mother of Humaira, who is living in Shahkot, said her daughter had left home to see her aunt. She said the criminals had strangled her daughter.

She said it was wrong that announcements were made through mosques to find the whereabouts of the dead.

The police officials have been finding ways to exonerate the criminals from the case instead of resolving the issue that panicked the people.

Station House Officer Ghazanfar Gujjar claimed that police had taken into custody two accused Arif and Irfan, of Chak 215-RB Kakuana. He said the three remaining bodies had yet to be identified and efforts were being made to trace their killers.

He said the victim families had nominated six people for killing, abducting and raping the women. However, he said legal opinion would be sought to probe into the issue.

Sub-Inspector Afzal said during preliminary investigation it had been revealed one of the deceased women had illicit relations with Rauf, who is still at large. However, he said it would be confirmed after the arrest of Rauf.

Medina Town Superintendent of Police Rommel Akram said police would take Nadra's help and send these pictures to different districts to identify the victims.
