PESHAWAR, Jan10: NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that the government’s initiatives and efforts for development and prosperity of the masses would be meaningless without restoration of peace in the region.
Talking to different delegations at his office on Saturday, Mr Hoti said the provincial government had been taking practical and realistic measures for restoration of peace and ensuring protection to the life and property of the people.
“We are utilising most of the resources for strengthening the law enforcement agencies, especially police in order to effectively deal with the miscreants who want to destabilise the government for their own vested interests,” he added.
Referring to the problems being faced by the farmers, Mr Hoti said that the government besides working for the wellbeing of all sections of the society was also giving importance to addressing the grievances of the growers.
He said last year farmers landed in trouble after rains and flash floods played havoc with their standing crops and ruined their houses.
The government, he said, had declared some areas as calamity-hit and exonerated them from various duties and taxes for a period of one year.
