KARACHI, Jan 7: National Stadium Karachi (NSK), country’s premier Test centre, will be developed to make it comparable with the world’s best stadiums, a top official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Tuesday.

“We are planning to renovate the National Stadium and bring it at par with stadiums in Melbourne, Sydney, London, Cape Town and Johannesburg,” Javed Miandad, Director General of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), said after personally visiting various parts of the National Stadium.

Miandad, former Pakistan captain and batting legend, added that the PCB was serving notices to various tenants pipe factory, furniture factory, security agency for removing encroachments and vacate the (stadium’s) area.

He further stated that a ring road would be constructed inside the stadium for logistical ease, adding for that purpose walls were being demolished to create passage for the road.

“My mission and objective is to make the NSK a public place with parks and playing fields for children. It will be developed as a national monument,” he expressed, adding that he would be meeting City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal to garner the City District Government Karachi’s (CDGK) support in this regard.—APP
