LAHORE, Jan 6: The year 2007 and 2008 were notable for a glorious return to limelight of the English sire Bedouin Invader as the undisputed leading sire on the stallions’ statistics table.
Assessing the performances of the progenies of the top stallions in respect of races won and placing registered during the years under review, Bedouin Invader, the son of Green Desert from the lineage of Danzig and Northern Dancer, stands out.
Owned by Mirza Khurshid Baig, Bedouin Invader has a clear lead in the stallions’ performance table in respect of the number of races won by their progenies and the prize-money haul in sprinting distance.
His nearly three dozen individual winners of over half a century of successes and nearly a hundred places are shining examples of his bloodline credentials. Bedouin Invader may not be a record breaker but he has proved his consistency.
Even breeders like Syed Pervez Hussain and Munir Dar and prominent owners Mian Maahir Ahmad and Mahmood Khan have fondly added his progenies to their stablesTwo of Bedouin Invader’s sons — Desert Prince (six wins, three seconds and two thirds) and Punjabi (seven wins and four seconds) make his results remarkable.—AG
